The classic Italian movies “The Postman” was screened by the People’s Voice on 18th March, 2012 at Desh Bhagat Yadgar Hall, Jalandhar. Postino is a 1994 Italian film directed by Michael Radford. The film was originally released in the U.S. as The Postman, a straight translation of the Italian title.The film tells a fictional story in which the real life Chilean poet Pablo Neruda forms a relationship with a simple postman who learns to love poetry. It stars Philippe Noiret, Massimo Troisi, and Maria Grazia Cucinotta. The screenplay was adapted by Anna Pavignano, Michael Radford, Furio Scarpelli, Giacomo Scarpelli, and Massimo Troisi from the novel Ardiente paciencia by Antonio Skármeta. Skármeta himself had previously adapted his novel for the screen in 1985 as Ardiente paciencia. While introducing the film, Kulwinder informed the viewer the backdrop of the situation of Chile that led to the immergation of poet Pablo Neruda to Italy.
The show was attended by people involved in creation especially from theatre, art and lititure,amung them, noted filmaker Bakshinder, poet Harvinder Bhandal, Surjit Judge, and noted writer and publisher Des Raj Kali were promionent.

Film screening in Mela Gadri Babian Da-11 at Desh Bhagat Yadgar Hall, Jalandhar on 31.10.2011. As a tribute to Comrade Gursharn Singh, a documentary film by Anita Sabdish will be secreened. This will be followed by screening of another documentary film titled ‘Development follows from Barrel of the Gun’ directed by Meghnath and Viju Toppe.


Two day film show was organised in Mehar Hotel, Dalhousie. On the first day, War and Peace, a documentary by famous documentary filmaker Anand Patwardhan was screened. On the second day, Satyajit Ray’s feature film Ganshatru was screened. Both the screening were followed by discussion. The event was organsied by People’s Voice.

The intellectuals participated in the event.

The second day of three day ‘Chetna Camp’ organised by Desh Bhagat Yadgar Comittee, Jalandhar was marked by a film show by People’s Voice.
The first film was a short film of Charlie Chaplin titled ‘Immigrent’ which shows the problems faced by immigrents in typical comic Chaplin style.
This was followed by screening of the hard hitting documentray ‘Development Flows from Barrel of Gun’ directed by Meghnath and Biju Toppo. The film questions the development model of liberalisation and highlights the real gainer and losers of the development. During the screening, brief introduction about the films and its directors was given by Kulwinder. Apart from this, he also explained the aims and objectives of their organisation ‘People’s Voice.


Chaar Dil Chaar Rahen(1959), a film direced by noted filmmaker K.A.Abbas screened at Desh Bhagat Yadgar Hall, Jalandhar on last Sunday.
